So.. What is a squeeze page?

by admin, under Internet Marketing

A pretty common concept (less common term) for landing pages is a “squeeze page“.

In short, a squeeze page is an intro to the sale page in which the surfer is required to provide e-mail address for the option to view our sale page!

Weird as it sound – this actually works!

As far as the statistics show – conversion rate for this function is pretty high (the example I got for showed a 7% conversion for an online paid course).

By doing this you are telling the customer that you don’t just let anyone in,
and that the access to your database (it can be an account login, a special deal, purchase or any other thing you have to offer) is valuable enough for you to condition it with some sort of commitment.

** My suggestion is to always try both options! **
One should use a squeeze page & the other a ‘regular’ landing page for the same campaign. Then you do A/B testing to see what works better for your specific product.

An example for such a page:

  43. Flashblock
    - The plugin blocks flash from running. It acts on all sites by default, but lets you set ‘whitelists’ of sites that can use flash, such as youtube. For blocked sites (those not on the whitelise) you get a window of the right size on the screen, and a ‘play’ button you can click if you want to load the animation. Here is an opera version.
  44. Fasterfox
    - A bunch of tweaks to speed up firefox simply without manually tuning the registry parameters. Can be set to exceed the RFC specs if you want.
Also provides a page load timer in the bottom right. See how much of a change you get after installing flashblock

This plugin enhances that so it automatically searches on bookmarks, and even web page titles from your history. If you keep a long enough history, it could almost render your bookmarks obsolete.
  46. Firebug
    - Essential for anyone who does web development. Install it, then for a page you want to analyze click Tools/Firebug. Click ‘inspect’ and point your mouse at any part of a web page and it’ll show a breakdown of the HTML in that section only, and let you modify the source ‘live’ to test fixes. Great for showing how web pages are composed, and it’s a much nicer alternative to a full ‘view page source’ option. Firebug and the inspect facility can be added as icons to your toolbar, so it doesn’t clutter up your browser out of the box.
  47. There is also YSlow
    - a plugin you can add after installing firebug to perform performance analysis on web pages.
  48. FoxEar
    - Essential internal tool that gives you a sidebar to interface into DogEar.
  49. Fast Video Download
    - It downloads videos from YouTube. You get an icon in the bottom right that you click when you’re on a page with embedded video, and it lets you save it.
  50. Remove It Permanently
    - (RIP) RIP lets you right click on any section of a web page (Such as a sidebar or advert) and specify that it’s removed from all future rendering of the page. By using this carefully you can reclaim a lot of your browser screen area.
  51. PDF Download
    - helps download the PDF documents.
  52. Down Them All!
    - a download manager for resume / split into parts / etc.

Matt Cutts: Gadgets, Google, and SEO

by admin, under SEO

There’s a formal announcement made by matt cutts regarding Pagerank sculpting.

His article mostly relates to the usage of No-follow links and internal ‘juice flow’ of internal linking.

His general conclusion:

Matt is recommending NOT to use any No-follow links as part of internal linkage on your website, since this action can, in some cases, create a less relevant & content-focused website.
